As an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, I provided individual, group, and family therapy at the Menninger Clinic, a residential specialty hospital.
With regard to academics, I taught and mentored, always with an emphasis on collaborative, patient-centered, relational approaches. I co-created and co-lead a seminar focused on psychological assessment. I frequently gave presentations on a range of topics—from understanding psychosis to compassion focused therapy, to marital interventions based on John Gottman PhD’s research.
I am also trained in a variety of 3rd wave therapies:
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Collaborative Assessment & Management of Suicidality
Finally, I welcome the incorporation of art, music, & poetry into therapy; it can promote expression & connection with one’s self.
